To start a business, there must be a need for it. This means that there is a need or problem and needs to be filled or solved. To start your own online business is no different. Of course there are various ways to do business online. Here, however I will touch base on the most important ones that you’ll need to succeed (and profit) online.
First thing first though! Let us start with what you’ll need the most to be successful and potentially profitable online. Pick something that you are enthusiastic about and you want other people to know about then start spreading the word using your own website. Step 1: Identify a Business
Decide which business you want to pursue. Narrow your choices down by thinking about what you enjoy doing or think about the specific skills and qualifications you already possess. Consider you personal hobby or desires that you can develop into a money making business. To choose your business direction, start by identifying a niche. Step 2: Get a Domain Name
Choosing a domain name is a way of choosing your own identity online. It is as simple as that. However, this is hard for most people. Using myself as an example, it took me few days of thinking hard about what I wanted my domain name to be. I brainstormed a lot ideas and asked my family and friends of what they thought about the choices that I had in mind. Anyway, enough about that! Let us get back to the business.
Tips on choosing a domain name:

- Simple to Remember
- Keep it Short & Simple
- Contains Important Keywords
So, what I recommend is make a list of domain names that you have in mind first then go from there. Sometimes, you might think that you have a good domain name and find out later that it is taken. Step 3 : Build a website

Yes. That’s the short answer and very obvious one!
A website is the foundation building for your business. If you do not have a website in this day and age, it makes absolutely no sense to even try creating a business online. A website is the medium for all things that happen online.
Having a website allows you to create content on specific niche or things that interest you. If you have something that you are very passionate about and you want to share it with the world, then there is no way around it but to have a website. A website is the key component of your success online.

Step 4: Share/Sell Your Product (or Services) or Become an Affiliate Marketer
Now I have a website, then WHAT?
Now you can start writing on projects that interest you. This I think is the best part of starting and having your own business online. Why, because you choose what you want to do instead of what your boss might want you to do if you were working for someone else. You choose your topic then talk about it. It is really that simple!
You can also, share or sell your own products and or services if you have any. If not, no worries. You can become an affiliate and work with merchants who have the products. Some of the places you can find products are like

For those of you who may not be familiar with the term search engines, here is its meaning. A search engine is a program that searches for and identifies items in a database that match to keywords or characters specified by the user. It is used to find particular sites on the World Wide Web. There are plenty of these search engines around, namely Google, Yahoo, Bing….
Step 5: Build a Mailing List
Most people who do business online know that the money is in the mailing list. However not everybody does it. I am not sure what the reason is. But in any case, you need to find a way to capture your customers’s contact information usually in the form of email.
Once you have your customers email, you can follow up and let them know about your promotions, specials sales, recommend products, coupons, etc.
Once you have some traffic to your website, you can focus on becoming an expert in the field.
Step 6: Become an Expert in the Field
There are lots of possible ways to become an expert in your particular field of interests that are available. You can take courses online or offline that target your interests. You can help customers learn more about your topics or offer seminar or webinars. Writing articles is another way. Giving interviews is another approach to let people know about your business.

It is not surprising that most businesses do not become millionaires over night. So here are few things you can do or continue to do:
